A Leisurely Drive Along Scenic Highway 12Explore the historic ranching towns bordering Highway 12. Stop in Boulder to have lunch at one of its unique restaurants and then visit Anasazi Indian Village State Park. On the way back, pull over and just savor the views. Highway 12 Bryce Canyon National ParkStop by the park's Visitor Center to get oriented, then head for the scenic overlooks. Later, take a stroll along Bryce's rim, or venture down into the canyon to see its magical hoodoos from below. On your way back, stop for dinner or a snack in nearby Tropic. Bryce Canyon National Park Grand Staircase-Escalante National MonumentStop by the Visitor Center in Cannonville to pick up a map, learn about the area's early settlers and ask about current road conditions. Then, take your pick: a slot canyon adventure through Bull Valley Gorge, an easy stroll through Willis Creek Canyon, a drive to the base of Grosvenor Arch or a hike through Cottonwood and Hackberry Canyons. Stay for sunset and watch the hills light up in a golden glow. Kodachrome Basin State Park Capitol Reef National ParkStop by the Visitor Center to get oriented, then follow the Scenic Drive past high domes and deep canyons. Take short hikes to see the Hickman Bridge and Fremont Indian pictographs. Round out the day by stopping at Sunset Point for a panoramic view of the park's cinnamon-hued cliffs and domes. Capitol Reef National Park Zion National ParkComplete your vacation with a day trip to Zion. Take a leisurely stroll along the Virgin River and admire the massive canyon walls that rise high above you. Or, do the challenging hike to the top of cable-strung Angel's Landing.
